Greenville is a respected medical center with two main health systems.
Bon Secours St. Francis Health System includes St. Francis downtown, St. Francis Eastside, St. Francis Outpatient Center and Upstate Surgery Center. It is ranked among the best hospitals in the nation by HealthGrades for heart surgery and overall orthopedic services.
The extensive Greenville Health System(GHS) is a non-profit academic medical center which, with seven campuses serving Upstate SC, is one of the largest employers in the region. GHS, in partnership with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, is home to a four-year medical school as well as a pharmacy school. GHS conducts cutting-edge clinical trials in a number of areas.
